Books for Parents

Here are the books about co-parenting I recommend most recently for people who want general information about co-parenting following divorce or separation of the parents:

Parenting After Divorce: A Guide to Resolving Conflicts and Meeting Your Children’s Needs, by Philip M. Stahl, Ph.D (2007).

The Co-Parenting Survival Guide: Letting Go of Conflict After A Difficult Divorce, by Elizabeth S. Thayer, Ph.D., and Jeffrey Zimmerman, Ph.D. (2001).

Co-Parenting With a Toxic Ex, by Amy Baker (2014).  I hope to get a full, specific review of this out soon, but in the meantime, I’ve heard good things about this recently-published book.   Even if you’re convinced all the problems in your co-parenting relationship are your ex’s fault, read this with an open mind and find out what you can do to improve things.

And, if you feel your ex has unfairly affected your relationship with the children, including estrangement of the children, take a look at Divorce Poison by Richard Warshak, Ph.D. (updated 2010).

A more complete list of divorce and co-parenting books, including recommended reading for attorneys, can be found on my website.
