Family Court Advisors and Parenting Coordinators

Family Court Advisors and Parenting Coordinators

You probably know what a family court advisor is, but do you know what a parenting coordinator is?   When the new Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure (ARFLP) become effective on January 1, 2006, family court advisors are re-named Parenting Coordinators.  (See new Rule 74, ARFLP)   While the new acronym is a nice change, the name change is primarily to make Arizona’s title for these professionals the same as other states which have the same services.    AFCC has developed Guidelines for Parenting Coordinators, and it seemed best to make it clear that these Guidelines are applicable to Arizona’s professionals.

The new Rules can be found at http://www.supreme.state.az.us/drrc/
