I have a long relationship with the magazine. Karen Barr started it in the 80’s while her children were attending Desert View Learning Center, and my children were still at the co-op preschool that was connected with Desert View. The majority of the pioneers at RAK were connected with the co-op preschool and Desert View, including interviewer Vicki Balint and Dan Friedman who came over to my office to take my picture for the article. (Dan, I don’t see the touch-ups that I requested.) But maybe most importantly, my younger daughter Colleen was the cover girl on the magazine’s second cover in 1989. She was about 9 months old at the time, and proudly posed topless and in a diaper.
