“I won’t force my child to go”

“I won’t force my child to go”

Raise your hand if a client has ever told you that the child doesn’t want to go to the other parent’s home for parenting time.   Raise both hands if the client has added “I won’t/ can’t force him to go.”

Sometimes we, as attorneys or Parenting Coordinators, can help with this situation by asking “If your child didn’t want to go to school, would you find a way to get him there?”   “If your child didn’t want to take his medication, would you find a way to get it into him?”

An article to help you, the attorney or the parent, with this situation, is available at Bill Eddy’s High Conflict Institute website.   Don’t Use Force
